Aún desde las calles de San Francisco, les envío otra idea de lo que veo x acá. Creo que el trabajo y esfuerzo físico, ha cambiado en el mundo, y en especial en USA, ya que ahora se agrega un mayor componente en el área del esfuerzo mental. Los "profesionales" hoy en día se ven obligados a cargar herramientas, las cuales por más ligeras que se vean al ponerlas juntas, suman un peso importante directamente adherido a sus cuerpos. Curiosamente al final del día hoy se tiene cansancio físico y mental. En estas ciudades me llama la atención como la gente no teme cargar computadoras, teléfonos, dispositivos electrónicos. Mas allá, se atreven a usarlos a la vista del prójimo, sin ningún miedo a que se las roben! Esto es algo raro viniendo de un país latino, en donde es pecaminoso tan solo pensar esto. A la vez me deja ver la cantidad considerable de cosas q lleva la gente encima. Definitivamente el progreso se siente. Hoy la comunicación es mucho más fluida, las distancias se hacen ...

Cada vez que tengo oportunidad de viajar a USA, sobre todo cuando visito un lugar nuevo para mí, no puedo menos que abrir mis ojos e iniciar el proceso de comparación. En esta oportunidad la comparación se centra en San Francisco, California. En los inicios recuerdo haber leido en la literatura sencilla como "las uvas de la ira'', que USA se construyó con grandes cantidades de trabajo, esfuerzo (la mayoría físico), y mucho ahorro (económico). Si dejo volar mi imaginación a hoy, puedo ver una gran diferencia en la parte de ahorro, ya que ahora se premia el gasto con grandes incentivos para reducir el monto en dólares pagado, pero también la vida útil o cantidad de meses que se usará el producto, lo cual a su vez lleva a incrementar el gasto total. Caminando por las calles del centro de San Francisco, puedo ver anuncios de Ipod, de celulares híbridos para leer y seguir trabajando en el autobus, pero a su vez estos se mezclan con los anuncios de los nuevos productos q desplaz...

Definitivamente volar ya no es lo que era, ya que el placer que se balanceaba con el miedo a volar, ahora ha cambiado. De alguna forma volar se ha vuelto algo mundano, y por ende debemos asumir que no necesitamos aplacar el miedo a que el avión se choque en el aire, o se quiebre en pedazos con la turbulencia con algo que haga la experiencia placentera. Desde mi opinión personal, una vez que estamos dentro del tubo alumínico somos parte de un regimen dictatorial de los más grandes. He llegado a pensar que Fidel Castro debe ser uno de los accionistas mayoritarios en American Airlines, ya que definitivamente utilizan estrategias similares, y sin embargo los seres humanos seguimos admirando como subsisten por tantos años. Solo con el ánimo de divertirme un poco, el otro día mientras volaba me ponía a pensar en todas las libertades que nos eliminan, solo por el hecho de haber pagado más de $500/hora de placer. Costa Rica is now struggling to adjust to the amount of traffic we deal with in a daily basis. Unfortunately all problems come together, such as the need to expand roads, with the impossibility of doing it because of the lack of land in the proximity of the road. This has been solved once more in a very Costa Rican fashion, or to be compared with the McGyver style. Some of the most important roads are now suffering a metamorphosis from a 2 lane demarcation, to a 3 lane. Although this is a solution, it is more like a patch and all drivers need to be specially careful when approaching a bridge, which have not been enlarged. All this is practically normal when you live in Costa Rica more than a couple of years, but it still somehow is interesting to denote the way we deal with problems. Since the cars are now being outsourced starting with the BMW X3, we can think of the old “quality and brand image” to have gone away. After all, the difference in the make of a car is basically the engineering, and the materials but if all these is now shared by the same company through different brands, then maybe we are looking at brands with the wrong eyes. BMW is outsourcing development and production to Magna Steyr, which is at the same time handling other assembly lines. The experience is of course pouring into the company, and so is the ability to innovate and bring costs down. So why are we still buying cars according to a brand, aren’t they all the same? Doesn’t this assure us a premium quality across all brands? Maybe the market will change, when customers realize that the brand is not enough reason to sustain the major difference in the price tag, after all, are you really paying that much more to have a different insignia in the hood.

By reading this article in the webpaper New Intel Chip for Digital TV Could Remake the Market , it triggered my mind on what will happen down the road with our computers and appliances. Interesting article, where it shows again that Intel is starting probably another turn from their core business segment, and expanding onto the pure Consumer Electronics world. This could not only bring them a broader market, but hopefully help them create the long awaited, computers that work as well as a TV set. If this is not what happens, at least I think better monitors, and media will be created, since they already have investments in web TV broadcasting company feedroom.com, which has a very interesting approach at what TV will be. Meanwhile we wait for the transition to easier to use computers, I sure hope we don't get more complicated to operate consumer electronics.
